Woaaah. I've done so little work, it's scary. It's taken a while to get back into the drawing groove, time to draw like a maniac to get ready for the new term! It's a shame, I had so many ideas when the summer started... but flu, gardening and fun times got in the way. Damn you fun times!!
Here's a digital drawing I did a few weeks ago, kinda based on Japanese folklore. I looked at Noh masks and prints, and wanted to do something that related to a shrine I visited in Kyoto. It didn't really work but it looks pretty. I'm starting a new one based on fox spirits, so hopefully that'll be more along the lines of what I want to achieve.

Went to Leigh Woods today (geddit? oh lawls) which was pretty knackering and made a fort! Just doing some drawings for the workshop tomorrow... still haven't drawn any trees yet though.
This guy is based on our ponderings on who lives in the huts up in that forest. We thought maybe homeless people went there, and someone also found bottles with plants and stuff growing in them. He's growing the plants in the bottle to replant in the forest, which is how the forest started in the first place - tramps planting seeds in litter. I wanted him to look like a wine taster scrutinizing a vintage.
Just realized his limbs are tiny! Bugger.

Finally finished the Panda Sutra book yesterday. Phew!
The idea behind this project was to tackle the Kama Sutra and dating with an animal that sucks at procreating and looks cute and innocent: the panda. It comes in a set which includes everything a panda needs to save it's species, including a small copy of the "Little Red Book" (panda version of the Kama Sutra), mood lighting in the form of candles and matches, aphrodisiacs and details of eligible bachelors and bachelorettes.
The book itself was hand-painted (even the text, which was lightboxed from printed text to look more handmade) and then reprinted to correct mistakes.
I will be making editions of the book and possibly the bachelor and bachelorette dating ads if there is interest.
My version of Vatsyayana, who is considered the creator of the Kama Sutra. He offers handy advice throughout my book.

Does whatever a banana can. The homework for tomorrow's studio workshop - based on overheard sentences. And a random nosey man. Arrgh, the lines are so bitty on the top one! It's been ages since I've coloured something on photoshop...

Ignore my other blog for a bit. I'm a little caught up in other projects at the moment to start it yet...

Yeah, not so fun when dragons are dancing in your face when you're hungover. Went to the Chinese New Year celebrations at the beginning of break and got some awesome photos, I'll upload them to facebook when resnet doesn't suck so much.

My pastiche final piece - well, one of them. King Arthur from the musical "Spamalot" - I like how dodgy and smelly he looks. It looks like Searle's work but was not done in his method - so I'm doing another one to add to it.
